Did you know that there are over 15 different types of makeup you can buy for your face? And if you are new to makeup, this can sound like an overwhelming amount. How do you apply all these types of makeup on your face, and why should you?

Fortunately, you do not need to buy all of these kinds of makeup types at once. You can buy what you need. Depending on the makeup look you want. Keep reading to know what is essential for your makeup kit.

Primer

This is the stepping stone to a gook makeup look. It preps your skin for makeup application. You can buy a water-based, silicone-based, or oil-based primer. It all depends on your skin type and preference. You can also use a primer alternative if you do not wish to spend money on a primer.

Concealer

A concealer conceals all your skin’s imperfections. It covers up acne scars, skin discolorations, birthmarks, hyperpigmentation, as well as other skin blemishes. It is meant to provide full blemish coverage.

Foundation

Its sole purpose is to even out your skin tone and cover up any skin flaws not already addressed by the concealer. Such as pores and bumps. It typically gives your skin a smooth appearance.

Blush

Also known as rouge or blusher, this makeup type helps to create a youthful look by reddening the cheeks. This helps to create the illusion of youthfulness by emphasizing the cheekbones.

Bronzer

Usually, in powder form, bronzer helps you create a tanning effect without sun exposure, a tanning bed or a tanning cream. Think of it as a temporary tan. It often creates a glow like an effect that makes your skin look sun-kissed.

Highlight

This is used to draw attention to your best facial features, be it your cheekbones, or your chin. Most highlighter usually shimmers, but you can also use a lighter foundation to create the same effect a highlighter would.

BB Cream

BB stands for blemish balm, and it is designed to perform multiple functions at once. A BB cream can cover skin discolorations, even the skin tone, and offer sun protection all at once. Additionally, most BB creams also serve as antioxidants that help your skin detox, become smoother, tighter, and softer. They are the Swiss pocket knives of makeup.

Contour Powder

This makeup product helps to define your facial features for a more symmetrical looking face structure. That is usually viewed as being more attractive. The contouring powder is a new type of makeup that has gained popularity in the last decade.

Setting Spray/ Powder

As the name suggests, this makeup type helps your makeup stay intact for hours on end. Opt for a matte setting spray in summer and a dewy hydrating one in winter.
