Nipple covers are a great hack whenever you want to wear a backless dress, or you are not feeling like a bra.
However, you may end up buying packs on packs of pasties if you don’t know how to apply nipple covers properly.
Sometimes the covers work perfectly, but if you wear them wrongly, you are going to have a problem. They may end up falling off or not sitting right on your body. If you have this problem here is a guide for you:
Non- reusable nipple covers
These are the easiest to use, and you can hardly get it wrong. They use glue adhesive to stick to your nipple area, so you only get a single use with it. Here is how to put on nipple covers:
- Start by wiping the whole areola with rubbing alcohol to get rid of any oils and dirt.
- Take the peel off the nipple cover and place directly on your nipple.
- Ensure that you don’t place the glue area on your nipple as this would be painful.
- Spread the nipple cover and smoothen it out, so it lays flat.
Be keen for any reaction that you may have to the adhesive such as itching, a rash or even unusual reddening around the area. If you are allergic to it, then you should consider using silicone nipple covers.
Reusable/ silicone nipple covers
The silicone nipple covers are one of the most popular since they are hypoallergenic and can be reused up to 100 times. High-quality silicone nipple covers don’t come off, and most are completely invisible under clothes. Here is a guide for using nipple covers:
- Clean your nipple area using rubbing alcohol.
- Remove the peel from the cover and apply the middle directly on to your nipple.
- It should instantly stick on the nipple then you can continue to smooth out the edges.
You can wash silicone nipple covers in warm water and some mild soap. Do not towel dry. Instead, leave it out to dry, and it will be ready to reuse the following day.

How long do nipple covers stay on for?
Silicone nipple covers are designed to be worn for four to six hours. Some nipple covers can be worn for up to 8 hours.
However, you should not wear them for more than 6-8 hours to allow your skin to breathe.
How to make nipple covers sticky again.
To make the adhesive on your nipple cover sticky again, wash them gently with soap and lukewarm water.
And let them air dry to allow the self-adhesive to regenerate. Once they are dry, replace the protective cover. Do not soak them in water.

Tips to help your Nipple Covers Stay on
- Before using the nipple covers, clean your nipples with soap and water to remove body oil from the skin.
- After removing your nipple covers, replace the protective film at the end of the day. This will prevent dust from sticking to the adhesive and make them less sticky.
- To ensure long-lasting hold, it is recommended that you clean and dry the area thoroughly before using your nipple plasters. Do not use moisturizers, as this will make them less sticky.
