How to Hide Nipples in a Swimsuit

If my nipples are anything to go by, these things have a way with water – especially if it is cold. They turn into hard pointy bits that easily poke through unpadded swimwear.

While some people find this sexy, I sometimes find it tacky and want to keep them out of sight at all costs.

The problem is I love flimsy bikini tops. They dry up faster and they feel free. This means that I can’t just cover up with a padded swimming suit.

After some research, I came up with a couple of solutions that seem to work.

How Do I Keep My Nipples from Showing Through My Bikini?

By now, I am assuming that you don’t want anything to do with heavily padded swimsuits. If yes, here are the solutions you can try.

1. Try Some Swimming Nipple Covers (Most Effective)

Buying some swimming nipple covers is by far the best way to keep those pointy nipples tamed. They are comfortable, easy to wear and in most cases reusable.

All you have to do is stick them on before wearing your bikini top and you can swim to your heart’s content.

Just ensure that you buy pasties specially made for swimming to avoid embarrassment. You can check out our roundup of the best swimming nipple covers for some help.

2. Use Waterproof Fashion Tape

Waterproof fashion tape or gaffer tape can do more than hold up your boobs when you want to go braless.

If you get a waterproof brand, you can use it to tape over your nipple covers before wearing your swimsuit.

Just remember to put some bit of powder (you can use this)on your nipple to protect it from the adhesive.

I prefer using the powder instead of some bit of cotton wool since the cotton wool tends to show a bump.

If you don’t have the right fashion tape (you can use Braza Swim Essentials Flash Tape for Swimwear), you can always resort to bandaids, duct tape or gaffer tape to get the job done.

Can I add Padding to a Bathing Suit?

Adding padding to a bathing suit might solve the problem – for a while. The problem is the padding can work loose if you splash around the pool leaving you uncovered and most probably embarrassed.

If you are thinking of padding, you will be better off buying a swimsuit that is already padded.

This way, you will be sure the padding will stay where you want to be no matter how hard you play.
