Why Does My Bra Roll Up in the Front?

Last updated on January 11th, 2021 at 01:02 pm

Most people with flat chests or those who have had a mastectomy have to deal with a bra that rides up in the front. This is attributed to how your body interacts with the bra.

Normally, most bras are designed to slightly push up on your boobs. This is expected since there is no way the bra can support your breasts with some bit of upward force.

The upward force can make the bra’s lower band or sometimes the entire bra to roll up the front especially if it encounters little resistance.

This makes brand band rolls up common among people with small boobs or people who buy bras that are slightly bigger. The roll up also happens if you tummy hits on the bra when you sit down. This is common if you have a sizable tummy and tend to sit in a slouched position.

How to Stop Your Bra from Curling and Rolling Up

The constant bra rollup is undeniably uncomfortable. It will also make you look bunched up from under your clothes. Here is what you can do to prevent it.

Get a Perfectly Fitting Bra

If your bra rolls up, consider buying one that is a size smaller. This could give you the firm hold you need to keep the bra in place. However, don’t drop a size if the bra below what you are wearing feels too tight and uncomfortable.

Get a Different Style Bra

Changing your bra size might not always do the trick. You might not be wearing the right bra type for your body. Avoid banded bras and go for T-shirt bras with just the cups, underwire and center panel. These bras roll up less often since there is no fabric below the underwire to roll up.

Look for a Bra With Boned Bands

If you must wear a banded bra, go for one with plastic boning in the band. It is easy to find D+ bras with this banding but you might not get them for sizes smaller than this.  They only work well on people with large busts.

In most cases, the bra rolls up in the front when your sizing is not right. It will happen if your bra moves around a lot. Go for a better fitting and more comfortable bra, for instance, a spacer bra to get rid of this problem once and for all.
